Hokkaido Mountain Experience loves adventure and finding the new. Multi-day Ski and Snowboard tours are your avenue to exploration of Japan’s mountains, food and culture. HME present Tohoku Yuki and The Powder Triangle. Each tour has its own nuances, but they all have a common core theme and that is seeking the best Japanese powder snow. You will be guided and hosted daily by our highly experienced and qualified guides, who will show the best on offer each day. Visit an onsen after a day of skiing and riding, enjoy Japanese cuisine, rest in comfortable accomodations and revel in an amazing tour experience.

TOHOKU YUKI :

The Tohoku Yuki Tour brings together the best of Japanese resort skiing, and for the more adventurous skier or snowboarder a chance to delve into the delightful and abundant side-country and backcountry options of the Tohoku region. Explore the resorts of the Iwate, Akita and Aomori prefectures. Dine in the abundant cuisines available in Morioka, visit a different onsen after each day on the mountain. Possible resort inclusions: Geto Kogen, Appi Kogen, Shizukuishi, Tazawako, Shimokura, Aomori Springs and Hakkoda.

THE POWDER TRIANGLE :

The Powder Triangle presents the avid skier and snowboarder a multitude of options through Central Hokkaido and Otaru regions on this ‘powder snow’ seeking mission. Develop a true appreciation of the magnificent Daisetsuzan National Park and the highest mountain in Hokkaido, Asahidake. Basing out of Asahikawa, Furano and Otaru the ‘Powder Triangle’ Tour has a variety of food adventures and remote onsen experiences to re-energise after a full-day of skiing and snowboarding. Possible resort inclusions : Furano, Tomamu, Kamui, Pippu, Asahidake, Sahoro, Tokachidake, Teine, Sapporo Kokusai and Kiroro.

Tour Length : 8 Nights/9 Days / 7 Guided Days

Minimum 4 persons to Run.

  • Guided days - 7 on snow guided days 

  • Transport : Pick-up from CTS/Niseko. All ground transport to various resorts.

  • Avalanche Safety Equipment Rental ¥20,000 per pack for entire tour.

Itinerary is somewhat flexible on conditions depending on snow. And we are willing to search for it but start and finish dates and Accom locations are solid.

EXAMPLE Itinerary :

Day 1 (Arrival Day) You will Transfer to Furano from Niseko 11am or CTS 2pm 

Check-in to accomodation in Furano, Beers at Ajitos

Day 2 (Furano) 1st Riding day at Furano, you will check out the off-piste, terrain and steep trees.

Day 3 (Tomamu) You will travel to Tomamu and shred famous side-country and backcountry bowls, and tree runs.

Day 4 (Tokachidake) Hiking Day at Tokachidake followed by onsen, you then head to Asahikawa to check-in to Court Hotel.

Day 5 (Asahidake) Full-day on the giant. Hiking and Riding, Check out the fumaroles then Beers at the Den.

Day 6 (Kamui) Drive to Kamui for an awesome day of shredding at Kamui Ski Links.

Day 7 (Teine) Early start drive to ride Teine Chutes and side country. Check-in to Grand Park Hotel. 

Day 8 (Sapporo Kokusai) Full-day shredding the trees and bowls of the side & back-country. Beers & Dinner at Otaru Beer hall.

Day 9 Drop off at Otaru Station, CTS or transfer to Niseko.

Accommodation :

Furano - La Vista Hills - 2 person twin/double room - 3 Nights (with Breakfast)

Asahikawa - Dormy Inn - 2 person twin/double - 3 Nights (with Breakfast)

Otaru - OMA 5 - 2 person twin/double room 2 nights (with Breakfast)

TOURS: ALL PRE-BOOKED TOURS. PAYMENT OF 20% OF THE BALANCE IS DUE WITHIN 14 DAYS OF BOOKING CONFIRMATION BEING SENT. THE BALANCE IS DUE IN FULL BY 1 DEC 2024

CANCELLATION BY THE CUSTOMER AFTER 20% DEPOSIT IS PAID WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF DEPOSIT. CANCELLATION AFTER FULL BALANCE HAS BEEN PAID AND PRIOR TO 30 DAYS OF COMMENCEMENT OF TOUR WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF 50% OF TOTAL PRICE OF TOUR.

CHANGES DUE TO CONDITIONS AND WEATHER MAYBE ALTER THE ITINERARY TO INCREASE PARTICIPANT ENJOYMENT.

Tour 1: Advanced to Expert Ability - Touring will be a feature on one or more days please be prepared to snowshoe or skin.

Tour 2: Progression based powder tour. No hiking, lift accessed side-country

Itinerary is somewhat flexible on conditions depending on snow. And we are willing to search for it but start and finish dates and accommodation locations are solid.

EXAMPLE Itinerary : 

Day 1 (Arrival Day) Morioka: Make your way from Tokyo via Shinkansen from Ueno to Morioka Station and be picked up by your guide in our 4wd van and taken to your Hotel for check-in.

Please plan to arrive at Morioka before 4pm (if not possible please let us know in advance)

Settle in organise your gear and be ready for the next days ahead. Grab a quick bite or catch up on some rest.

Day 2 (Geto Kogen - Warm up Day) You are up early for breakfast. Head up to the mountain from 830am you will be shown around Geto Kogen’s best mountain areas, enjoy some lunch at the base. More skiing in the afternoon followed by an Onsen to get the body and mind right for the days ahead. Welcome Drinks at Sundance.

Day 3 (Shizukushi) Today you will get a bit more adventurous and explore the mountain of Shizukuishi. Lunch on the mountain finish mid-afternoon. Enjoy an onsen and head back to Morioka for dinner and some much needed rest.

Day 4 (Shimokura) You will enjoy an early breakfast and travel to Shimokura or where the best snow is on the day. Find an onsen relax then head back to Morioka for some well earned dinner & sleep.

Day 5 (Tazawako) Breakfast will be at 7am sharp for some side country adventures and plentiful powder runs and no crowds. Lunch on the mountain and continue until the afternoon.

Day 6 (Appi Kogen) Up early you will pack the van and get on the road for a half day of skiing, get out and about early get the fresh tracks and enjoy a Lunch and an Onsen, You will set off for Hakkoda in the afternoon. 

Day 7 (Hakkoda)  Hakkoda for the last 2 days of your trip Hakkoda and your most beautiful backcountry experience of the tour. Meet your Local Japanese guide and head up the tramway to explore the amazing terrain. Snow-shoes and hiking poles will be provided if you don’t have your own gear. Avalanche safety equipment is compulsory. Ride down to the base and  for an onsen and Dinner. 

Day 8 (Hakkoda/Aomori Springs - Last Day on Snow) You will once again be guided around different zones depending on the snow. Or head over to Aomori Springs Resort for something different if the weather doesn’t play nice. It is our last day so make the most of it. Finish the day with some well earned celebration, stories, Dinner and drinks. 

DAY 9 (Aomori Station) Checking out by 830am you to head to Aomori Shinkansen Station for your trip back to Tokyo or continue to connect with The Powder Triangle Tour in Hokkaido.

All accommodations are either Hotel Style or Ryokan. Warm and comfortable. 

Daiwa Roynet Morioka, Iwate.

Suyaku Onsen Ryokan, Aomori.
