The Powder Triangle - Awesome Hokkaido Powder Skiing

My husband and I can’t say enough good things about the Powder Triangle Tour that we just completed with HME. We were thrilled with the skiing which couldn’t be better than in central Hokkaido. Even with the “worst snow in 40 years”, our guides found us plenty of powder. They monitored the weather daily, sometimes making the call of where to go, just before we left. All five of the people in our group felt that our skiing had improved over the 7 days of skiing, due to the insightful instruction we were given. Our guides also went out of their way to take us a local onsen in the mountains, a local festival, and other off-slope activities. With two guides, the three more advanced skiers could do more off-piste powder, while the two of us with less experience learned to ski powder in the side country. We came back so excited that we can’t wait to book another tour next year.Awesome Hokkaido Powder Tour

The Powder Triangle - Great Trip with Great Guides

We just completed the Powder Triangle Tour and had a wonderful time. We were a group of 5 accompanied by two guides, Jack and Mackenzie, who were absolutely outstanding. Three of us were powder hounds and Jack found us fresh powder at every stop along the way. He provided expert instruction to a group of skiers with limited experience in deep powder. Mackenzie led a smaller group of less experienced skiers who she introduced to powder. We all left the tour feeling that our skiing had improved. They also went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed the tour, taking us to an outdoor onsen, an international festival and other apres-ski activities. Their enthusiasm and expertise made this a truly wonderful trip.

Tohoku Yuki Road Trip

HME’s fantastic and very experienced guide Pete created the perfect road trip of northern Honshu. It was the ideal mix of ski hills, slack-country and backcountry. Given, in general terms, it was a bit of a low tide (for Japan standards), Pete did an excellent job leading us to the pow stashes and staying very current on the weather so that we could modify our itinerary to hit the right spots at the right time; finding fresh turns every day. We followed the storms and reaped the benefits. The small crew of four clients was well paired and we really enjoyed shredding together. Our accommodations were really great and hitting a different onsen every day after riding was delightful. Can’t recommend this tour enough :

Guides make the best powder buddy.

We skied in later February the best powder in awhile. Thanks to Matej we found powder almost every day. He took us on runs for intermediate to advanced depending on each of our levels. We skied so much than on our own, Japanese rules are no off-piste unless you’re with a guide. He’s the guy to ask to drive you places, where to eat and anything Niseko/Kiroro and Rustusto.
